Steps

1

Prepare the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs with the milk. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until the batter is smooth and lump-free. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

2

Banana and Chocolate

Peel the bananas and cut them into small, approximately 1 cm (0.4 inch) cubes. Prepare the chocolate chips or finely chopped chocolate.

3

Cooking the Balls

Heat a pancake ball maker (takoyaki pan) over medium heat and grease each well with a little oil. Pour batter into each well, filling it about halfway. Place 2-3 banana pieces and a few chocolate chips into each ball. Pour a little more batter over the filling to cover it.

4

Flip and Serve

When the bottoms are golden brown and the edges have set (about 2-3 minutes), use a wooden skewer or small fork to flip the balls 90 degrees so the uncooked batter flows into the well. Continue cooking, rotating the balls until all sides are golden brown and cooked through (totaling about 5-7 minutes per ball). Remove them and repeat the process with the remaining batter. Serve immediately, dusted with powdered sugar.

Extra Tips

Use ripe but firm bananas so they don't completely fall apart during cooking.

If you don't have a pancake ball maker, you can fry them in a deeper pan, just pay attention to their shape.

Before serving, sprinkle a little cinnamon or cocoa powder alongside the powdered sugar for extra flavor.
