Add the rinsed and drained long-grain rice to the saucepan. Sauté it with the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the edges of the rice grains become translucent.

Pour in the vegetable broth, add salt and pepper. Stir, then bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and cook for 15 minutes.
