Steps

1

Cook Pasta & Broccoli

Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted water according to package directions. During the last 3-4 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pasta to cook together. Drain, reserving about 200 ml (0.8 cup) of the pasta water.

2

Prepare the Sauce

While the pasta cooks, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chili flakes (if using), and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

3

Combine & Season

Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the pan with the garlic oil. Zest one lemon over the pasta, then squeeze the juice from both lemons over it. Stir in the remaining olive oil and grated Parmesan (if using). If the pasta seems too dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until it reaches a creamy consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4

Serve

Serve immediately, optionally garnished with a little extra fresh Parmesan and lemon zest.

Extra Tips

Don't forget to use some of the pasta cooking water to thicken the sauce, it works wonders!

If you like it spicy, feel free to add more chili flakes, but taste as you go.

You can also sprinkle fresh parsley or basil before serving for extra flavor.
