Drain the corn thoroughly, then lightly mash it with a fork in a large bowl. Add the grated cheese, flour, egg, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until you get a homogeneous mixture.

With wet hands, form the mixture into small balls or flatter patties, about 3-4 cm in diameter. Roll each one in the panko breadcrumbs, ensuring they are evenly coated on all sides.
