ingredients

4 Servings
15 ml olive oil
1 pc onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
30 g taco seasoning mix
120 ml water
12 pcs hard taco shells or soft tortillas
1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
2 pc tomatoes, diced
150 g shredded cheddar cheese
150 g sour cream or salsa
0 to taste salt
0 to taste pepper

Steps

1

Prepare the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, warm one tablespoon of olive oil. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.

2

Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it's fully browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

3

Season and Simmer

Season the browned beef with the taco seasoning mix, salt, and pepper, stirring well to combine. Pour in the water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 5-7 minutes, or until most of the liquid has evaporated and the meat filling has thickened.

4

Warm Taco Shells

While the meat simmers, warm the taco shells according to package directions. This usually involves heating them in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for 5-7 minutes, or in a dry skillet for a few minutes per side.

5

Serve

Serve the warm taco shells with the seasoned beef filling and offer fresh toppings such as shredded iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, and sour cream or salsa. Let everyone build their own tacos.

Extra Tips

Warm the taco shells in the oven or a pan before serving to make them crispier and more delicious.

Experiment with toppings! Avocado, jalapeños, corn, or black beans also go great with tacos.

If you have leftover beef filling, you can enjoy it the next day with rice or a salad.
